Property Tax

No sale, purchase or letting of a property can now be undertaken without a thorough review of the tax consequences. The Group advises on all relevant aspects of such transactions, including:

• Stamp duty land tax planning;
• VAT planning and transfer of a going concern issue;
• Planning for tax on capital gains;
• Maximising capital allowances;
• The construction industry scheme;
• Offshore unit trusts and limited partnerships

Tax Disputes and Appeals

The Tax Department advises on disputes with HM Revenue & Customs and is experienced in negotiating and settling such disputes and running appeals against unmerited tax assessments. We advise on:

• SDLT enquiries;
• VAT disputes;
• Income tax, capital gains tax and corporation tax appeals

International Tax

Increasingly many business transactions have a cross border element requiring an understanding of the interplay between differing tax jurisdictions. We advise on many aspects of international tax, including:
