Introduction
A recent survey found that over two thirds of employees are considering “moving on” once the economy improves with over a quarter convinced they will change employer within the next 12 – 18 months. Keeping your top performers could be the biggest worry for 2010.
In the next Manches Masterclass we will look at ways employers can protect their business interests, including contractual provisions, networking policies, restrictive covenants and ways to protect client and business confidentiality. We will show you how other organisations are achieving top performance and what practical steps you can take to motivate and retain key staff.
We will look at effective performance management – what you can do to help managers and team leaders manage performance and reduce the likelihood of viable claims. We will guide you through the complexities when grievances are raised or an employee takes sick leave during the performance management process. By the end of the day you will have a range of practical tools and “action ready strategies” to ensure you and your teams are truly fit for purpose for the year ahead.
Session 1– Protecting your Business Interests
Presented by: Daff Richardson, Partner, Manches LLP
Daff will consider ways in which businesses can maximise the protection of confidential business information and client connections. She will explain how well-structured employment contracts can provide employers with effective protection against unfair competition from former employees and will consider practical strategies to maintain the integrity of your commerical interests if key employees leave your business.
Session 2 – Top Performance
Presented by: Isobel Rimmer, Director, Masterclass
Isobel will look at what “top performing” organisations do and how to apply those principles to your organisation. Using a series of check lists and easy to incorporate actions, you can review how your managers and leaders are working and make sure you are retaining the best talent.
Session 3 – Coping with Confidence - Managing Performance
Presented by: Jayne Sinclair, Senior Associate, Manches LLP
Jayne will explain what practical steps employers should take to manage performance fairly and minimise the risks of claims, in the light of the ACAS Code of Practice. She will also consider what employers can do to tackle the interaction of grievances and performance management and how to deal with the situation when an employee takes sick leave during the performance management process.
Session 4– Making a Difference with Performance Management
Presented by: Hayley Mogridge, Lead Consultant, Masterclass
In this session we will look at practical skills, techniques and exercises that you can introduce to help your managers conduct appraisals and manage performance in their teams.
