Sustainability
“Bags of initiative and the ability to convey complicated issues in easily comprehensible terms.” Chambers & Partners
Overview
Like you, we’re planning for the future. While the science relating to climate change has been warning of the need for carbon reduction for over a decade now, the tools for addressing the problem – for business and for Government – have taken some time to emerge.
The advent of the Climate Change Act, the policy and practice of requiring sustainability in public procurement of goods, services and works, and the availability of Government funding to support the clean/green tech sector are all illustrative of a step change in Government policy and approach.
At the same time, the corporate environment is developing tools of its own to promote sustainability in business, motivated by the needs of corporate social responsibility, stakeholder demand or simply public relations. "Green leases" are an example of this. Business (particularly large scale business) will, as a consequence of the Climate Change Act, be increasingly regulated in relation to its carbon footprint.
