Planning

We provide town and country planning advice. This practice area is led by Rosalind Packham, who works across our Thames Valley and London offices and has over 20 years’ experience in planning law.  Rosalind initially practiced as a barrister and has significant experience of major planning issues.

Most of our site acquisitions and development work involves planning, and usually a Section 106 agreement.  We frequently advise clients on the effect of Section 106 agreements and, where possible, we negotiate amendments.

Recent experience includes:

  • advising Sarsen Housing Association on a section 106 agreement required on a development which is entirely affordable.
  • acting for Wiltshire Rural Housing Association in relation to the threat of an application for judicial review of a planning permission for one of its residential developments.  This included advising on the merits of the threatened application and procedural matters affecting the timing of the threatened application.
  • London Underground: we were recently instructed to advise London Underground (LUL) on the redevelopment of London Bridge railway station and are continuing to advise LUL on its involvement in a major development of Cannon Street National Rail and Underground station in the City of London and on property development projects at Faringdon Station and Blackfriars Station. The work we have done has been associated with development schemes of various sizes at many different stages of the planning and construction process.
