Experience
Healthcare projects
We have acted on a number of healthcare-related projects, including providing support for the project company of a major healthcare PFI, advising on a series of NHS decontamination projects and on several hospital accommodation projects. We also have experience in supporting developers of overseas hospitals.
Housing PPP and PFI
We have applied over thirty years’ experience in the housing sector, our finance expertise and our knowledge of practice in comparable PPP and PFI projects to help a housing association client close a series of DBFO projects for the provision of keyworker housing for NHS Trusts. In these we have dealt with detailed specialist issues. These were as varied as the issue of EFDA certificates under the NHS legislation, the conditions attaching to the issue of housing grant and the adaptation of the standard Treasury force majeure wording to cater for the local impact of the construction of the Crossrail Project.
Regeneration and cultural facilities
Our team has experience of a number of projects for the establishment of new cultural and leisure facilities and of projects combining such facilities with housing renewal as part of the wider urban regeneration project.
Scientific Facilities
We applied the knowledge gained from a long association with the scientific and academic sector, together with expertise in complex property transactions, joint venture structuring and charities law to advise a research council on the contractual arrangements for the development of the largest single scientific facility constructed to date in the United Kingdom.
Waste Management
We acted for one of the waste management sector partners in the contracts for a joint venture for the construction of a new clinical waste incinerator, energy from waste facility and associated works. By applying our familiarity with the principles of process plant engineering and performance and taking a firm stance in contract negotiations, we were able to obtain beneficial terms for our client.
Waste PFI
Combining our expertise in specialist engineering and civil contracts with major projects knowledge, we advised a private sector contractor in a PFI waste project for Wiltshire County Council on the terms of the design and contract for the supply and construction of an MBT plant infrastructure between the PFI contractor and the subcontractor.
