Employer protection scheme

The continued expansion of legislation and case law make it essential that you have access to proper advice and support.

Your workforce is your most important asset. The employment team at Manches Thames Valley offices offers an innovative means of support to ensure that it does not become your most expensive liability.

Manches' employer protection scheme (MEP) is a fixed price service which can cover all of your employment law needs.

Many employers are put off taking advice on the management of workforce issues, due to concerns over the unpredictability of legal costs. MEP is one solution to this problem, as for a fixed annual fee, you can cover all of your employment law needs.

MEP is made up of a number of components, some of which are available on a standalone basis, and all of which are available as part of the full service.

Whichever component(s) you choose, you can be assured that you will be supported by one of our team of specialist employment lawyers, all of whom are members of the Employment Lawyers Association.

The various components of MEP are set out below:

Contractual review

We undertake a full audit of all of your employment contracts, policies, procedures and handbook for an agreed fee. We will then advise you of areas of weakness, and the cost of addressing them, with a view to achieving full legal and best practice compliance.

Employment helpline

We provide telephone support to deal with an unlimited number of new employment law queries for a fixed annual fee. This will enable you or your HR team to seek clarification or support by telephoning one of our specialist lawyers without fear of incurring additional fees in doing so.

Claims insurance

Once your business has been the subject of a contractual review, and the employment helpline is in place, the likelihood of you being the subject of a claim in the Employment Tribunal will be reduced.

However, it is often not enough to simply make the right decisions as an employer. Some employees have become experts at playing the system and this can result in spurious claims that give rise to substantial cost.

To achieve complete certainty, we also offer the option of insurance cover to protect you against the cost of legal fees and awards resulting from Employment Tribunal claims. A copy of the policy wording is available on request. The insurance policy is the final step that will allow you to achieve certainty regarding your employment law spend.

Updates and training

As part of the MEP service we will also provide you with materials and resources to keep you updated on developments in employment law. These are:

  • Employment newsletters dealing in general with matters of interest and/or future relevance
  • Briefing notes focusing in detail on one particular matter of interest and/or future relevance
  • Invitations to free seminars and forums to discuss employment law and HR matters.

In addition, we will attend your offices at least once a year to provide an interactive session on an area of employment law that is of particular interest or relevance to you.
